Building News/Blog Site Navigation

One of the biggest updates to the new theme is the creation of a Navigation Builder. This was created to streamline the process to maintain and update site navigation using the Cascade CMS interface. This allows site editors the ability to customize navigation without needing to touch HTML code.

Features of the Nav Builder

The nav builder is organized into groups and includes options to easily arrange the order of your navigation links.

Each group includes the following options:

  1. Count Indicator - A count indicator is provided for each group. In the example above the count indicator is showing that the nav item depicted is number 1 of 6 total links. Each link in a sub-menu will also include a count indicator.

  2. Group Preview - When a group is collapsed, the group preview will provide a notation of what type of link is included in a particular group.

  3. Expand/Collapse - Click to expand or collapse the content of a group.

  4. Drag - Drag and drop a menu item to a new location.

  5. Move to Top/Move to Bottom - The arrow pointing up will move the menu item to the top of the group in the count. The arrow pointing down will move the menu item to the bottom of the group in the count.

  6. Move Up/Move Down - Move the menu item up or down one position.

  7. Add New Group - Add a new menu item.

  8. Remove - Removes a menu item.
