The "_Site Configuration" folder is the location where you will find your initial set up blocks. This folder should be the location for any other specialty blocks that you might want to add. The two required blocks that you must configure are the site masthead and the footer.

Table of Contents

Overview of the Footer

The new templates include several design options for customization - before building your site, it is recommended that you choose which base style you would like to use for your site footer. The default options for the site footer include a crimson or white background. In addition to the default options, you can also select the standard (sand background) or a simple footer set up. It is recommended that your footers are consistent across your website, but you do have the option to select a different footer on a page-by-page basis if it is needed.

The footer includes the following content areas:

  1. Logo Setup - The main NMSU logo setup with tagline is a global asset and cannot be changed. The logo setup links to the NMSU homepage when clicked.

  2. Department Name - The name of your website. The site name in the footer should be consistent with the site name in the masthead.

  3. Address Block - The address block is optional, but is recommended.

  4. Social Media Icons - You can include any number of social media icons that link to your social media pages and/or profiles.

  5. CTA Button - There is an option to include a call-to-action button in the footer. The CTA button will display under the social media icons (if used) and as part of the address block.

  6. Link Columns - You can include a collection of links in a column. The simple footer does not include link columns.

  7. Legal Disclaimer - Every NMSU webpage should include a legal disclaimer.

Customizing the Address Block

You can use the social media icons provided in the theme or upload your own icon.

  1. Click Choose File, Page or Link to select the social media icon.

    • Theme icons can be found by following this path in your site: sitename/_assets/svg/social-media...

  2. Enter the URL for your social media channel or page.

You can use the arrow icons to reorder the presentation of your icons. Click the + to add a new icon. Click the X to remove a icon.

By default, icon buttons will be displayed on a crimson background. If you are uploading your own icon, it is recommended you use a transparent image background in PNG or SVG format and use a color that will provide enough visual contrast.
