In Cascade, if you want to temporarily prevent your content from being published, you’ll need to configure the asset – a page or folder – from being published. This process is different from un-publishing an asset.
Why would I need to prevent publishing?
If you are working on a page that is in development and not ready for it to go live with the rest of your site, then preventing publishing is the approach to take. This will prevent any type of accidental publish from an another website editor or any other publishing schedule that is set.
Following the instructions below will essentially "freeze" any content you already have on your webserver. It is recommended that you unpublish your content before disabling publishing for any asset.
Instructions
Locate the page that you want to prevent from being published and click Edit.
Click the Configure tab.
The Configure tab will show checkboxes for indexing and publishing. Un-check the include when publishing box.
Click Preview Draft and then Submit to save your changes to the CMS.
Preventing Publishing for a Folder
If you have several pages you would like to prevent from being published, you move them all to one folder and then prevent the folder from being published.
Locate the folder that you want to prevent from being published and click Edit.
Click the Properties tab.
The Properties tab will show checkboxes for indexing and publishing. Un-check the include when publishing box.
Click Submit.
Disabling "Include when indexing" will prevent Cascade CMS from indexing the asset (or its contents if the asset is a folder) internally. It will not affect publishing.
