Have you seen an error that looks like this in the Cascade Workspace when trying to preview your page?
The new theme makes use of several cascade velocity formats and blocks to function effectively. One of the most important blocks is referred to as the “calling-page” block. This block is an index block and works to create a dynamic list of your site assets in the form of XML data.
Each cascade site has it’s own unique calling-page block.
There are two important clues in this message, the details about where the error occurred and then details about the exception. In the example below, the program-hero region is missing the calling block.
Review the path where the error occurred
Where are calling page blocks and format regions located on each page?
After clicking Edit for a page, click on the Configure tab.
Scroll down the page to the Regions section.
The following Path’s require a calling-page block:
Default
Hero elements (including slideshows)
Scrolling (Available on the Program Landing Page template only)
Page Header
Learn more about Regions.
Where is my site’s calling-page block?
In the Site Content tree on the left, click the _assets folder.
Click the _cascade folder.
Click the blocks folder.
Click the index folder.
NOTE: You may notice a second block in the index folder. The “current-folder-fwd2” block is another dynamic index block that helps to create the site breadcrumbs.
DO NOT DELETE THE BLOCKS IN THE INDEX FOLDER.
Adding the Calling Page Block to Fix an Error
Click Edit and then click on the Configure tab.
Scroll down the page to the Regions section.
Using the clues from the error message, identify which path is missing the calling-page block.
In the example above the missing block is in the “hero” path.
Click Choose Block.
Select to your site’s calling-page block and click Choose.
Click Preview Draft (blue button at the top of the screen). After previewing the draft, click Submit to save these changes to the CMS.
