Folders are assets that are used to contain and organize images, documents and webpages. When inside a site, the Site Content menu on the left is where your folders and their contained assets are displayed. In the News/Blog theme, a Yearly Folder contains folders for each month.

Instructions

Look for a red plus sign in the topmost header area of the page, and click on Add Content.

Inside the Add Content menu, select Create New Yearly Folder - YYYY Format from the dropdown menu.

Fill in the Folder Name, Title and Display Name.

  • The Folder Name will generate the page URL, therefore, it should be all lowercase letters separated by hyphens, without underscores, special characters (e.g. #$%$%^&), or any spaces. In most cases a yearly folder should be 4 numbers. For example: “2024”

  • The Display Name can include capital letters, special characters, and spaces.

  • The Title will generate the labels for your folder in the Site Content tree on the left. The Title and the Display Name can be the same.

Click Submit to finish.

Your new folder should be highlighted in the asset tree to the left. Publish the folder.

Select a folder by hovering over the asset name and clicking on the arrow (>) that appears to the right of the asset name. The contents of that folder will display on the right hand side of the page.

Contents of the Yearly Folder

The yearly folder will include a sub-folder for every month and an archive page for the year. By default the archive page will be titled “YYYY Archives” and is the index page for your yearly folder. It is recommended that you edit the name of your archive page before you start adding articles.

Page Layout

Every page template includes the option for Full Width or Two Column. When Two Column is selected, Sidebar rows are activated that provide options for further customization. You can choose to toggle between Full Width and Two Column layouts at any time.

About Listing Styles

The News/Blog template includes several dynamic options to present content. Listing types specifically control the way automatically generated article lists are presented. On most page types, you have the option to select a listing style.

Each listing style dynamically pulls in the following article metadata and displays it in descending order by date:

  • Article Thumbnail - if you do not include one, the default thumbnail will be used.

  • Category

  • Title

  • Author

  • Date

  • Summary - Only available on the Image List listing style.

Single articles are the only page type that do not include the option for listing style.

Image Tiles are presented in three columns in full width layouts and two columns when the two column layout is selected.

Image lists are presented in a single column with the thumbnail on the left of the article metadata. The Image List listing style is the only option if you would like to display article summaries.
